About Us
We were raised on the lab floor — not behind a counter
On Site Optical is the continuation of a family story that began with a wholesale optical manufacturing company, Safe Lite Optical, and a father who kept being first: first to build an optical retail chain with a national drugstore, First private optical partner to supply the VA—manufacturing prescription lenses and building fully staffed outpatient clinics directly within VA hospitals, to provide our Veterans with eyewear they can be proud to wear, consistently for over two plus decades
Recognition
"Profiles of excellence" — as featured in Jacksonville, Crown of the Coast
Featured repeatedly in the Jacksonville Business Journal as a leading woman-owned optical manufacturer, and awarded over $80 million in VA contracting.
Company Story
Four decades of making glasses, one purpose
For more than forty years our family lab produced prescription eyewear at scale — approximately 500 to 1,000 pairs a day — for clinics, agencies and retailers across the Southeast. That volume teaches you something a showroom never can: how a lens behaves, why a frame fails, and where quality quietly slips away.
We've served the VA throughout the Southeast in outpatient clinics and hospitals, the USPS, the Navy, corporations such as WalMart, city municipalities — currently the City of Gainesville and Gainesville Regional Utilities — private doctors and individuals. We've also supported communities experiencing homelessness with eyewear necessary for daily function, hoping to improve a difficult and, we hope, temporary situation.
Our success today traces back to our parents — particularly our dad, whose instinct for being first opened doors the whole industry later walked through. On Site Optical carries that forward with the same rigor and a far more personal reach.
Vision Benefits 4 All
Making eyewear reachable
Alongside the lab, our family built Vision Benefits 4 All — Alongside the lab, our family built Vision Benefits 4 All to bridge the gap in eye care—making prescription glasses accessible for local workers, independent teams, and neighbors who lack coverage. That same intent still shapes On Site Optical: sensible programs for employers, and eyewear for neighbors in need, including communities experiencing homelessness.
